For this portrait series, I photographed Richard Stipl, an internationally successful artist whose work goes beyond quick answers. His art arises from observation, depth and the courage to tackle complex inner and social issues.

Richard Still works in a focused, precise and intuitive manner. He always remains approachable, calm and attentive – someone who prefers to listen rather than explain.

During the shoot, an atmosphere of openness and mutual respect developed. This calmness, his clarity and his intense way of working also characterise the resulting portraits – as snapshots of an artist who consistently follows his own path with great integrity.
